The International Development Research Centre (IDRC) (French: Centre de recherches pour le développement international—CRDI ) is a Canadian Crown Corporation created by the Parliament of Canada in 1970. It supports research in developing countries to promote growth and development. IDRC is guided by an international Board of Governors. IDRC reports to Canada’s Parliament through the Minister of Foreign Affairs. The aim of IDRC is to create innovative, lasting local solutions that build "healthier, more equitable, and more prosperous societies." IDRC work with researchers and innovators in those countries to find practical, long-term solutions to the social, economic, and environmental problems their societies face. Their goal is to bring choice and change to the people who need it most.
